Smartphone makers want you to upgrade to their latest and greatest devices as soon as they’ve launched. It’s understandable why users do, too. New devices from companies often sport the latest innovations, like faster chips, larger rear cameras, and quicker displays. The only real way for users to gain these features is to upgrade their devices.

It’s likely that many users don’t need these features or aren’t willing to drop more cash on a fundamentally similar device. Those still clinging on to older flagships are still benefiting from quick chips and top-notch features. Even recent mid-range smartphones haven’t aged all that badly, especially those from OEMs offering lengthy software support periods.
