Buffett is the biggest enemy of bitcoin?

“The number one enemy is a sociopathic grandfather from Omaha,” Thiel said at a bitcoin conference held in Miami on Thursday.

Thiel, who allegedly collected hundreds of millions of dollars worth of bitcoins through the risky company Founders Fund in 2018, also named the CEO of JP Morgan, Jamie Dimon, and the CEO of Blackrock, Larry Fink. Thiel presented large graphics with pictures of the two CFOs and their negative comments about bitcoin.

All the pictures contained the word “gerontocracy.” As for Dimon, Thiel said his views were part of “the bias of New York bankers.”

Thiel picked up a clip of Buffett with the words “rat poison” on it, referring to a time when the CEO of Berkshire rejected bitcoin using that phrase. Another quote from Buffett read: “I don’t own and I never will.”

Earlier this year, Berkshire invested one billion dollars in the Brazilian Nubank, an online bank that is popular among crypto investors.

The Miami Tirade is Thiel’s latest and bravest public attack on people he believes stands in the way of bitcoin progress.

“This is what we have to fight for in order for bitcoin to increase in value ten or a hundred times,” he said.

He added that these investors are well-promoting blockchain, a technology that supports cryptocurrency, but they feel the need to remove bitcoin and its legitimacy.

“When they decide not to allocate to bitcoin, it is a deeply political choice,” said Thiel, a prominent supporter of Republican politicians, most notably former President Donald Trump.

A Berkshire Hathaway spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNBC, and spokesman JP Morgan declined to comment on the story.
