  • WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg apparently revealed a few new features coming to WhatsApp.
  • The duo reportedly shared the news via a group chat with the person behind the WABetaInfo website.

WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart and Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg have reportedly dished out plenty of news regarding upcoming WhatsApp features. However, the news didn’t come via a press release or social media post, but via an apparent group chat featuring a prominent leaker.

The person behind the prominent WABetaInfo website was reportedly added to a WhatsApp group chat that included Cathcart and Zuckerberg. And the Facebook co-founder confirmed a number of upcoming features, including a disappearing mode for any chat thread (it was previously limited to one-on-one chats), “view once” functionality (sending content to someone and having it disappear after they view it), and multi-device support without having an active internet connection on the main device.

Cathcart also shed more light on multi-device support, saying a public beta with the feature will be launched within the next two months and that multi-device support maxes out at four devices.

The CEO also touched on WhatsApp for iPad, saying the company would “love to support” the app on Apple’s tablets but that it needed to properly implement multi-device capabilities to make it possible. Either way, we’re glad to see multi-device support in particular isn’t far away, especially as the likes of Telegram have offered a similar feature for a while now.

It all sounds like a rather unbelievable turn of events, but WABetaInfo has the best track record when it comes to news regarding WhatsApp features, combing through the latest updates to figure out what’s coming next. We’d still recommend you take this with a grain of salt, but this is about as good a third-party source as it gets when it comes to WhatsApp news in general.
