Smartphone battery sizes have only gone up in the past few years thanks to displays, processors, and features that require more power. We now have devices with massive battery capacities ranging all the way up to a whopping 10,000mAh. Of course phones like those are still a rare exception, but it’s not hard to find devices with near 5,000mAh or above battery sizes. So we thought of conducting a poll on our website, asking our readers to tell us just how big of a battery their current phone has. Here are the results of that poll.

How big is your smartphone’s battery?

Results

We received a total of 2,244 votes on our smartphone battery size poll. The results show that a majority of our readers use phones with batteries that don’t exceed the 5,000mAh capacity.

In fact, the most common smartphone battery sizes amongst our readers fall under the 4,001mAh to 4,5000mAh range. 28.7% of the respondents in our poll have smartphones with batteries that come in this range.

The next most prevalent smartphone battery capacity range is 3,501mAh to 4,000mAh. 19.2% of our readers voted for this category.

17.3% of the poll takers said that their phones offer batteries between 4,501mAh and 5,000mAh. It’s worth noting that most Android flagships of 2021 have batteries in this range. Many cheaper phones also offer these large battery sizes so it’s not like everyone who voted in this category is carrying a flagship in their pocket.

Meanwhile, 15.1% of our readers are still stuck with phones that have 3,001mAh to 3,500mAh batteries. 6.8% of the voters make do with even lesser battery capacities.

Only 9.6% of the respondents have devices with batteries higher than 5,000mAh.

2.9% of the poll takers said that they don’t know the battery size of their phones.

Your comments

TheOracle: 4,000mah right now. Almost 3 years old and still going strong. Moving up to 5,000mah next month. It’s the first thing I look for in a phone.

EMINEM’s Ghostwriter: I have a 4,000mAh and my phone (Mate 10 Pro) is going for its third year and so far the battery is still holding up well.

Albin: Headscratcher since my 3,000mAh Moto Z series becomes 6,000mAh with a snap-on Mophie Mod, that can be permanently connected and charged that way. The biggest battery issue for me isn’t daily drain but extended photography outings, and the extra battery overcomes one of the main limitations of phones for that.

MD. Faraz Ahmad: Under 3000 iPhone users. Above 5,000 Samsung M and F series users.

2Star Hoodlum: OPPO A53. Budget phone, listed as 5,000mAh. Easily gets a whole day, but I don’t play games on it.

Bart: iPhone 8 – 1,800mAh – and holds same whole day on battery.

Pedro: My 5,000 mAh holds a charge for 28.5 hours, no iPhone even comes close.
