  • Xiaomi has announced the Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11X, and Mi 11X Pro for India.
  • The Mi 11X series are visually similar but offer different chipsets and camera hardware.
  • Prices start at Rs 29,999 for the base Xiaomi Mi 11X.

Nearly a month after the Mi 11 line made its Chinese debut, Xiaomi today announced the availability of the Mi 11 Ultra and its new Mi 11X series in India. While the Mi 11 Ultra is the same product offered in other regions, the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro are Indian market exclusives.

Visually, the Mi 11X series is almost a carbon copy of the Redmi K40 line. This includes the elongated oval rear camera array with a punch hole selfie camera up front. Both Mi 11X series phones also pack flat 6.67-inch AMOLED displays with 2,400 x 1,080 resolution and refreshing at 120Hz. It’s slathered in Gorilla Glass 5, too. To power the display, there’s a 4,520mAh battery with 33W charging. Both phones also feature IP53 ratings.

While there is a lot of overlap between the Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro, the differences extend to the phones’ key specs.

The Mi 11X Pro gets a Snapdragon 888 SoC and a 108MP Samsung HM2 camera sensor as its two defining features. It’s also joined by 8MP and 5MP tertiary shooters.

The Mi 11X settles for a Snapdragon 870 SoC. Although it’s not as feisty as the 888, it should still give the Mi 11X slightly better performance over last year’s flagship chipsets. A 48MP Sony IMX582 camera headlines the imaging hardware. It also features an 8MP ultrawide camera and 5MP telephoto snapper.

The Mi 11 Ultra probably needs no introduction. It’s Xiaomi’s flagship and its most expensive product on offer in India. It packs a 6.81-inch 120Hz OLED screen protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Beneath it, there’s a Snapdragon 888 SoC powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired and wireless charging.

Our verdict: Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra review

A 50MP Samsung GN2 primary camera headlines the imaging hardware. It’s flanked by 48MP ultra-wide and 48MP periscope cameras. A 20MP selfie camera sits up front, but a 1.1-inch display is mounted into the camera array to shoot portraits with the rear cameras. Other distinguishing features include an IP68 rating, Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speakers, support for Dolby Vision, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

Price and availability

The Xiaomi Mi 11X is available in two RAM variants with 128GB storage. The 6GB option is priced at Rs 29,999 (~$400) while the 8GB option retails for Rs 31,999 (~$426). General sale begins on April 27.

The Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro in 8GB/128GB is priced at Rs 39,999 (~$533), while the 8GB/256GB option costs Rs 41,999 (~$560). Preorders kick off on April 24.

Xiaomi’s undercutting the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S21 line and the OnePlus 9R in India. But the Mi 11X series isn’t really its flagship product line.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra debuted in China starting at 5,999 yuan (~$924) for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant. But India is getting the 12GB/256GB version starting at Rs. 69,999 (~$933). This means it’s broadly in line with the Chinese price but much cheaper than Europe’s €1,200 (~$1,446) figure. The Ultra is still Xiaomi’s most expensive smartphone in the country though. It arrives in Cosmic White, and Cosmic Black finishes.
