Tottenham will believe they can inflict more pain on Manchester City this weekend after seeing Liverpool triumph at the Etihad, says Michael Brown.
City travel to face Spurs on Saturday, Premier League, and will be hoping to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions, following their Champions League exit at the hands of the Reds .
Former Tottenham and City midfielder Brown believes Spurs will have gained confidence from watching the runaway league leaders lose to Manchester United and Liverpool twice in the space of the last week.
“They are vulnerable,” said Brown. “Tottenham are playing so well at the moment, and at Wembley they are a fantastic footballing side.
“They will be looking forward to the game. If they have ever been given confidence it is now after the week that Manchester City have had.
“You look at the Liverpool game. No goal given, Pep Guardiola has got sent off. It all adds to the confidence. Spurs will be looking at that, they’ll have the belief.
“It is going to be a really entertaining game.”
Guardiola is set to finish the season with two pieces of major silverware after previously guiding the club to the Carabao Cup but Brown admits the campaign could end in disappointment unless City secure the Premier League title in front of their home support.
When asked if this season could finish in anti-climactic fashion, Brown said: “It is going to look that way because they had such a good start.
“They were in every tournament, playing amazing football. Let’s not forget the style and how he plays from the back.
“It probably will filter out a bit but let’s hope it shouldn’t. Let’s hope they win the title at the Eithad, rather than Manchester United losing a game for instance. It just wouldn’t be the same feeling.”
