  • TCL is launching three phones in the US, all within the TCL 20 series.
  • The 20 Pro, 20S, and 20 SE start as low as $190 and go all the way up to $500.
  • TCL doesn’t have any US carrier partnerships for the series, so the phones will be available unlocked from Amazon.

Back in April, TCL revealed three new phones. These joined an earlier pair of phones the company launched in January during CES. These five phones make up the TCL 20 series, and all have seen release in various parts of the world. However, the United States hasn’t seen any of them yet.

That changes today. As of now, three phones within TCL’s latest mid-range/budget smartphone family are available for US buyers. Unfortunately, we don’t get all five phones, but the three we do get run a good gamut from decent mid-ranger to ultra-budget.

TCL 20 series in the US: What you need to know

The headliner is the TCL 20 Pro. Landing at $500, this phone is the most premium of the bunch. It features a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution and HDR10 playback support. There’s a centered display cutout for the 32MP selfie camera and a fingerprint scanner underneath the screen. It has a quad-lens camera on the rear, wireless charging, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset under the hood (which supports 5G connections), paired with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Next up, we have the TCL 20S for $250. In other parts of the world, this one landed as the TCL 20L Plus. Despite the name change, the two phones are identical. That means it comes with a 6.67-inch flat LCD display with a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a quad-lens camera on the rear, and a 16MP selfie camera inside a centered display cutout. The budget-oriented Snapdragon 662 powers the phone, which means no 5G support for this one. It’s paired with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Finally, we have the TCL 20 SE, which we first saw at CES. For the low price of $190, you get a 6.82-inch display with a low 720p resolution. It runs on last year’s Snapdragon 460. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a quad-lens camera array, and 4GB of RAM under the hood.

All three phones are available from Amazon in an unlocked form. The two non-5G phones will support most GSM-based networked (T-Mobile and AT&T). Additionally, the TCL 20S will also work on Verizon. The TCL 20 Pro is 5G-capable, but will only work on T-Mobile’s 5G network at the moment. It will work on AT&T’s 4G network and will eventually work on Verizon’s 4G and Sub6 5G “in the coming weeks.”
