Honor 50 Hero

  • We’ve just seen the Honor 50 specs leak, including those for the Pro and SE models.
  • None of the phones will be premium flagships, with even the Pro having a mid-range chipset.
  • However, these specs seem good for what you’ll likely pay for the phones. Also, we know Google apps will be onboard!

Former Huawei subsidiary Honor has had a rough time over the past two years. Although it ostensibly operated mostly independently from Huawei, it still fell under that company’s umbrella. That meant the still-ongoing Huawei ban trickled down to Honor.

Thankfully, Huawei sold its ownership of Honor to a different company, which allows Honor to get back into the smartphone game — which includes the support of Google apps. The first big release under these new circumstances is the Honor 50 series, and now we have some leaked Honor 50 specs to share (via Ishan Agarwal through 91Mobiles).

The company will officially launch these phones next week on June 16. So we won’t need to wait too long before we find out if these specs are legit. In the meantime, here’s what we know!

Honor 50 Pro specs

The most feature-rich of the three, the Honor 50 Pro could sport a 6.72-inch FHD+ OLED display. Under the hood, it could have a Snapdragon 778G processor, which would support 5G connections. That processor could be powered by a 4,000mAh battery that might charge at an astonishing 100W (wired, obviously).

On the front, the Honor 50 Pro could sport two selfie cameras: a 32MP primary sensor and a secondary 12MP shooter. On the back, there could be four cameras:

  • 108MP ƒ/1.9 main
  • 8MP ƒ/2.2 ultra-wide
  • 2MP macro
  • 2MP depth sensor

Agarwal posits that the Honor 50 Pro could have dimensions of 163.46 x 74.66 x 8.05mm and weigh 187 grams.

Honor 50

Interestingly, the leaked vanilla Honor 50 specs suggest it could be very, very similar to the Pro. In fact, in at least one area, it might even be better.

The Honor 50 could sport a 6.57-inch FHD+ OLED display, which is slightly smaller than the Pro’s display. Agarwal contends it could have the same Snapdragon 778G processor under the hood, too. However, that processor could be powered by a 4,300mAh battery in the vanilla model, which is slightly larger than the Pro’s cell. It would “only” support 66W fast charging, though.

The Honor 50 would also only have one selfie camera — a 32MP ƒ/2.2 camera. The rear setup would be the same as the Pro’s setup, though.

Finally, the Honor 50 could have dimensions of 159.96 x 73.76 x 73.76mm and weigh 175 grams.

Honor 50 SE

Last but not least, we have the Honor 50 SE, which we’re hearing about for the first time today. Being that this will be the cheapest of the three, it deviates pretty heavily from the Honor 50 and 50 Pro specs detailed above.

First, it could have a 6.78-inch FHD+ display, but with an LCD panel instead of OLED. The processor could be a MediaTek Dimensity 900, which wouldn’t be as good as the Snapdragon CPU of the other two models. It could also adopt the 4,000mAh battery of the Honor 50 Pro but stick with the 66W charging speed of the vanilla model.

Its solitary selfie camera could be a 16MP sensor, and the back camera could be very different from the other variants. Agarwal says it could offer a triple-lens module that includes a 100MP ƒ/1.9 main, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle ƒ/2.2 lens, and a 2MP ƒ/2.4 macro.

Agarwal contends that the phone could have dimensions of 164.73 x 75.63 x 8mm and weigh 191 grams.
