  • Samsung is rumored to be shrinking Galaxy S22 screen sizes.
  • The regular model would be just under 6.1 inches across, while the S22 Plus and Ultra would sit at 6.55 inches and 6.8 inches.
  • You’d still have to buy the Ultra to get an LTPO panel.

Samsung might have your back if you hate the trend toward ever-larger phones. According to Phone Arena, tipster Mauri QHD claimed the Galaxy S22 line will shrink in size across most models.

The screen on the base Galaxy S22 would reportedly drop from the S21’s 6.2-inch size to a more manageable 6.06 inches. The S22 Plus, meanwhile, would dip from 6.7 inches to 6.55 inches. Only the Ultra model would remain constant at about 6.8 inches.

You’d still have to settle for a larger size if you want a Galaxy S22 with an LTPO (low temperature polycrystalline oxide) display, though. Mauri’s source claims the Ultra would once again be the only model with an LTPO screen, making it the better pick if you want less of a battery hit from high refresh rates or always-on display functions.

This would be a slightly unusual move for Samsung, which is legendary for increasing dimensions with each generation. The original Galaxy Note was defined by its then-huge 5.3-inch screen, for instance. However, it’s no secret that phone makers are pushing the limits of the human hand. A smaller Galaxy S22 size range might be an acknowledgment that some phones are simply too big, and that fans might sometimes prefer ergonomics over a vast visual canvas.
