There is no question that the Houston Texans’ roster is littered with star talent. As a result, it seems they have caught the attention of running back Adrian Peterson.
Peterson has not had much luck finding a new home in free agency. However, he has made it clear that Houston is among the teams he would be the most interested in joining, via ESPN:
“You know obviously I’ve mentioned Houston a couple of times,”
Peterson said. “I feel like Green Bay wouldn’t be a bad look as well. Carolina. There’s some options out there. You know Miami. Down there in [Los Angeles]. That would be a nice look, too, with Todd Gurley. You see around the league they have a two-back system. Guys are not really not pounding the ball 20, 30 times a game, so I think that leaves the door open for a couple of opportunities for me.”
Peterson’s departure from the Minnesota Vikings got off to a rough start when he joined a crowded New Orleans Saints backfield last year. However, he was soon traded to the Arizona Cardinals and was able to show he still had plenty left in the tank after a couple of monster performances.
Unfortunately, the veteran has had a rough time finding a home this offseason. The Texans already have their workhorse in running back Lamar Miller. However, he is coming off a rather disappointing year that saw him average just 3.7 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, running back Alfred Blue is also coming off a down year in his complementary role. That said, it would be interesting to see if Houston would be willing to oblige.
